When CYBEX introduced the first Arc elliptical trainer, fitness experts wanted to classify it as either an elliptical or a stepper. The Arc series is different from an elliptical because the movement of the individual is more Arc than an ellipse. It is not as harsh on the knees as an elliptical and engages the right muscles which are the quads and glutes for better calorie burning results. Neither is it a stepper as it does not utilize a climbing motion.
